Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Secretary of Commerce honored Ontario-based AQMC as one of 11 companies to receive the President’s 2023 “E” Award for Exports earlier this month. AQMC, which developed a method for sterilizing air and surfaces, received the award for its sustained increase of export sales over a four-year period. In response to the news, Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) – who represents Ontario in the U.S. House of Representatives – issued the following statement:

“For the past 30 years, AQMC has sold environmentally friendly technology across the globe. I am proud to see this Ontario-based business recognized for its contributions toward increasing U.S. exports. Local businesses are vital for our local, state, and national economies. In Congress, I will always fight to help Inland Empire small businesses thrive.”

Congresswoman Torres serves on the powerful U.S. House Appropriations Committee, which oversees all federal funding. As a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee that is in charge of funding for the Small Business Administration, Congresswoman Torres has worked to break down the barriers that entrepreneurs face to accessing capital. The Congresswoman has secured funding for initiatives to help women- and minority-owned enterprises succeed, including the SBA’s Microloan Assistance Program. For Fiscal Year 2022, the Microloan program brought over $4.7 million in capital to help entrepreneurs across California’s 35th District start up or expand their businesses.
