Former Etiwanda High School standout Jack Holguin helped lead the La Verne Leopards to a 9-0 shutout win over the Whittier Poets during their NCAA Division III baseball game on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2:30 p.m.

Hugh B. Mendez Stadium served as the venue for the contest. This marked the third time the Leopards faced the Poets this season. In their previous meeting, also on Saturday, Feb. 28, La Verne fell to Whittier 4-2.

Holguin pitched five innings, tallying three strikeouts and issuing two walks.

The Leopards will next play the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons at Kino Sports Complex on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m.
