At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, former Etiwanda High School baseball standout Nico Hamilton helped lead the La Verne Leopards to a 9-0 victory over the Whittier Poets in an NCAA Division III matchup.

The contest was held at Hugh B. Mendez Stadium. It marked the teams’ third meeting this season. Earlier on Saturday, Feb. 28, the Leopards had suffered a 4-2 defeat against the Poets.

Hamilton threw four innings, striking out seven batters.

The Leopards are slated to play their next game at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Kino Sports Complex versus the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons.
