Washington, D.C. – The 2023 Congressional Art Competition is underway for all high school students in California’s 35th Congressional District, and today, Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) issued a call for submissions. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Complex for one year, and the winning artist will also receive roundtrip tickets to Washington, D.C.
“Our district has so many talented young artists, and the Congressional Art Competition is a great opportunity for high school students to express themselves creatively and showcase their originality. I always look forward to walking past the winner’s artwork when I am in D.C. I am excited to see the submissions for the 2023 competition!” said Congresswoman Torres.
The deadline for submissions is 5:00 pm PT on Friday, April 28, 2023. All submissions will be posted to Facebook on Monday, May 1 for voting. The artwork with the most likes by Friday, May 5 at 5:00 pm PT will be determined as the winner. The 2023 winner will be announced on Monday, May 8.
Since 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated in the Congressional Art Competition.
